On-Line Portfolio Guide
Creating Your Online Portfolio
1) Creating the Portfolio
a. Login to your Gmail account and go to your inbox.
b. On the right side of the menu bar, select more and then even more. A new window will open with all the Google products. Click on Blogger.
c. Click on New Blog
d. Create your blog title. It must be: Firstname Lastname’s Portfolio
e. The address must be firstnamelastname2013.blogspot.com
f. Choose template and press Create blog!
2) Customizing Your Portfolio
a. Click on the title of your portfolio.
b. You must choose a template where I will be able to read your writing (either dark background with light writing -or- light background with dark writing).
b. Click on Settings tab on left toolbar.
In Basic. Make these changes:
Under Privacy : Click Edit.
Add your blog to our listings? No
Let search engines find your blog? No
Save changes
Click on Language and Formatting on the left toolbar. Make these changes:
Time Zone (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time
Save Settings
d. Click on the Layout tab
i. Feel free to fill out the About Me section
ii. Add Gadgets, like pictures, text, etc.
iii. Change fonts and colors so that your portfolio reflects your personal style.
iv. Make sure you save after every change.
3) Under settings on the left toolbar, click on Posts and Comments:
a. Make the following changes
b. Show at most: 1 post on the main page
c. Who can comment: User with Google Account
d. Comment moderation: Never
e. Show word verification: No
Save settings
4) Your First Post
a. Click on the Posts tab
b. Click on New Post
i. Title: Welcome to My Portfolio
ii. Write: My personal goal for this year in English class is… (and finish the thought)
iii. Click on Publish Post
Congratulations!! You now have your very own Online Portfolio!
Please email the URL to me as per the instructions on your class syllabus.
